Eew Snakes!

Ok it's not uncommon to see earthworms in my house after rain storms, and even then it's like eew! I don't know how the buggers keep getting into the house! So last night on one of my after midnight runs as I was walking through my kitchen I noticed what I thought was an earthworm under my baker's rack. I looked and noticed it's tail was very slender and pointy. Ok, I thought, that's a bit too slender and dark to be an earthworm. Closer examination helped me realize it was a freakin' snake! It wasn't moving so I figured it was dead. I grabbed my broom and swept the it from underneath the baker's rack, when the freakin' thing began S curling across the floor! Of course I screamed, it's a snake! I called upon my dog to get it, but she was having no parts of that bad boy or girl snake. So I had to buck up my courage and sweep the darling onto my dust bin and then toss it outside. The freak jumped once I swept it onto the dust bin!!!! Oh my word! Yes I finally got it out of the house to watch it slither off into the dark night. However, I did notice that this was not an ordinary grass snake because it's head was shaped like that of a rattle snake or python. Upon further research, I discovered it was a speckled king snake. Mind you it was a baby snake, which worries me because where there is one baby snake generally there is a litter of those creepy crawlers. Another source of worry is where is the mom?

I'm too scared to look in the house for the mother snake (hopefully there is none), provided she is in the house. The good thing about king snakes is that they are immune to venomous snake as well as eat them. I've lived in my home for over 10 years and never encountered one in the house until yesterday. I'm so paranoid I'm pulling back my bed linens making sure I don't have any of them trying to have a slumber party in my bed! It's a scary thought to think you may be cohabitating with snakes. Eew Snakes!
